Raymond’s current Reach-Fork truck includes Raymond’s revolutionary ACR System™, as well as the capability to utilize energy-efficient and environmentally friendly hydrogen fuel cell technology. This project began in 1949 as an annual space-saving analysis and grew into the invention of a revolutionary, narrow aisle lift truck. The Reach-Fork truck is one of the best-selling reach trucks in North America and was first invented by Raymond in 1951. “We are looking forward to sharing how Reach-Fork trucks are produced.” They are core material handling equipment in warehouses and distribution centers across the globe,” says Jim Malvaso, Raymond’s president and CEO. “Reach-Fork trucks are complex machines that feature state-of-the-art design and high-quality parts and materials. The team spent approximately nine hours capturing the process, from the bending of the sheet metal to assembling the electronics to wrapping the completed truck for shipping. The production team from “How It’s Made” visited Raymond’s Brantford, Ontario, manufacturing facility in August 2008 to film the manufacturing process of the Raymond® Reach-Fork truck.
